The Pacific Islands Universities Regional Network (PIURN) and the Papua New Guinea University of Technology (PNGUoT) are pleased to present the official publication of the 6th PIURN Conference Proceedings, available here.
This volume captures the interdisciplinary nature of the Conference, addressing the theme “Harnessing Technologies for the Safe and Sustainable Development of the Pacific”, held at PNGUoT, in Lae, from July 1st to July 3rd, 2025. The academic contributions from the PIURN Member Universities reflect the interconnected challenges faced by the Pacific Region, from Food Security to Education, Sea-level rise to public health. This volume engages with the socio-economic reality of the Pacific communities, including the local context of Papua New Guinea.
These proceedings feature peer-reviewed papers from the 6th PIURN Editorial Committee, composed of PNGUoT academics. Several contributions emerged from cross-university research partnerships and PIURN-funded collaborative research projects, reflecting a strong regional commitment to joint research and knowledge sharing. Together, these works embody the vision of PIURN “To collectively empower the Pacific Universities to become key contributors to finding solutions for challenges facing the region”.
